Logistics, Fees, & Insurance

Yes, I am currently accepting new individual clients age 18+. You can check my current availability or schedule an initial consultation through my Online Booking Portal, call 850-325-0139 or email questions@berrypsychologicalservicespllc.com

A typical 50‑minute individual session is $200. I also accept several insurance plans through Headway, which can help offset out‑of‑pocket costs. Links for scheduling and appointment availability are located on my “Book an Appointment” page.

I am in-network with Aetna, Cigna, and Carelon Behavioral Health in Florida through my billing partnership with Headway. Before our initial session, Headway will securely confirm your benefits and automatically calculate your copay, so you can begin care with clarity, confidence, and a clear understanding of any out-of-pocket costs.
For Out Of Network patients I can provide a monthly superbill if your insurance plan includes out of network benefits.
Private Pay rate is $200 per 50-minute session.
Please Note: We cannot guarantee any level of reimbursement from your insurance provider and have no contact with your insurance company regarding claims.
Payment is due in full at the time of service. It is your responsibility to verify and understand your out-of-network benefits.
-
Many clients choose to pay privately for several important reasons, especially during vulnerable life transitions:
Confidentiality: Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis and can audit your records. Private pay ensures your information remains fully confidential between you and your therapist.
Control over Care: You and your therapist determine the treatment duration and approach, without insurance companies dictating session limits or types of therapy covered.
Focus on Goals: Our work can focus entirely on your specific transition and recovery goals, rather than meeting strict insurance criteria.
We can provide you with a "superbill" (an itemized receipt) that you can submit directly to your insurance company if you choose to pursue reimbursement. We recommend calling your provider ahead of time to confirm your specific out-of-network coverage.

Reimbursement Support via Thrizer
While I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly, I provide all clients with a monthly superbill to submit for reimbursement. To simplify this process, you may choose to use Thrizer, an independent third-party platform that manages out-of-network claims for a small fee (typically $2 per claim).
Please note: I am not a member of the Thrizer platform and have no professional affiliation with their service. My practice is not involved in your account setup, claim status, or payment disputes with Thrizer. I simply provide the required documentation (superbill), and you manage the submission and reimbursement through your private Thrizer account.
If you choose to use Thrizer, you will pay my full fee at the time of service and then upload the superbill I provide to your personal Thrizer portal. This service is entirely client-managed; I do not have a provider account with Thrizer and cannot see or manage any claims submitted through their platform. All inquiries regarding their service should be directed to Thrizer Support.

We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards. Payment is processed securely at the time of your appointment.

To make getting support as stress-free as possible, my practice is entirely remote. I exclusively offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth appointments for adults located anywhere in the state of Florida. All virtual sessions are conducted safely and confidentially through a secure, encrypted client video portal. This means you get doctoral-level clinical expertise to help you manage anxiety, depression, chronic stress, or sleep issues right from the comfort, privacy, and safety of your own couch. No traffic, no crowded waiting rooms—just professional support exactly where you are.
-
Life happens, schedules change, and sometimes things just pop up out of nowhere—I completely get it. If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, all I ask is that you give me at least 24 hours' notice. Because that hour is reserved exclusively for you, appointments cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice (or missing a session entirely) may result in a $75 fee. Please note that insurance companies do not cover missed session fees, so this amount would be charged directly to your card on file. If an emergency happens, just reach out as soon as you can so we can handle it together.
-
The easiest and fastest way to cancel or change your appointment is to log directly into your secure client portal and adjust your slot from there. If you are on the move or don't have your login handy, you can also send me a secure message through the portal or call me directly at 850-325-0139. As long as you request the change at least 24 hours before our scheduled start time, you are completely good to go!
Approaches & Specialties
-
Instead of just talking about feelings, my work focuses on giving you concrete tools to regain emotional steadiness and control when your life shifts unexpectedly. I provide goal-oriented, structured support tailored specifically to insomnia, depression, anxiety, trauma recovery, and difficult life transitions. To achieve this, I integrate active, evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. Unlike traditional talk therapy, our sessions are proactive and strategic. We don't just analyze past struggles; we focus on building an actionable roadmap to help you get unstuck and experience real-time change.
-
We help clients navigate a wide range of high-stakes changes, including career pivots, divorce and relationship endings, relocation, post-traumatic growth, retirement adjustments, and transition from active-duty military to the civilian sector. Our focus is on the anxiety and depression that often accompany these major life shifts, offering practical, solution-focused therapy to reduce overwhelm, improve coping skills, and rebuild a clear path forward.
-
Yes. Our framework for trauma recovery focuses on establishing safety and regulating your nervous system during upheaval. We approach therapy from a trauma-informed perspective, ensuring that you feel grounded, heard, and in control of your healing process at every step.
-
Yes, absolutely. Feeling frozen or unable to make decisions is a very common symptom of anxiety, depression, and chronic stress, which can overload your brain and cause intense decision fatigue. Traditional talk therapy often spends a lot of time analyzing why you feel stuck, but my approach focuses on the actual mechanics of how to get you moving again.
Together, we will use practical tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and strategic life design to quiet the overwhelming noise and break down choices into manageable steps. Instead of just talking about the heavy cycles you are experiencing, we will focus on building a clear, evidence-based roadmap. The goal of our sessions is to reduce your daily stress, clear the mental fog, and build the immediate momentum you need to make decisions and regain control of your life with confidence.
-
The length of therapy depends entirely on your specific goals and the complexity of your situation. Because my approach integrates goal-oriented Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and active behavioral strategy, our work is focused entirely on real-time change. Many clients seeking support for anxiety, depression, chronic stress, or sleep issues find significant clarity, symptom relief, and actionable momentum within 3 to 6 months of consistent work. I believe therapy should be efficient and practical, so we will regularly review your progress together to ensure we are actively meeting your needs and building your independent skill set.
Getting Started & What to Expect
-
Our initial intake appointment lasts approximately 60 minutes and takes place via my secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. This session is a structured, collaborative evaluation designed to understand the core challenges you are facing. We will focus on your current symptoms, medical history, and immediate safety or stabilization needs.
While the goal is to begin outlining your treatment path, a comprehensive clinical evaluation is a process. The first session is about gathering the necessary pieces of your history, which means we may not leave with a finalized plan on day one. Instead, we will establish a clear starting point and map out our next clinical steps so we can build a highly accurate, evidence-based strategy together over our initial few visits.
-
Finding the right therapist is a lot like dating—if the chemistry isn't there, it’s just going to be awkward for everyone. The absolute best way to figure out our vibe is through an initial consultation call. This gives you a zero-pressure chance to ask me questions, see if my direct, tool-based style makes sense to you, and decide if we click. There is absolutely no hard feelings or pressure if it doesn't feel like the right match. If your current needs require a different specialty—or if you just decide I’m not the therapist for you—I will gladly help point you in the right direction.
